Homebuyer Assistance

The Coalinga Redevelopment Agency’s Homebuyer Assistance Program offers affordable secondary mortgage financing to eligible first-time homebuyers, or for homebuyers who have not owned a home in the last 3 years. The loan is a 0% interest, 30 year deferred loan that will not exceed 49% of the total financing, or $65,000. Please see the program brochure for eligibility information.

Senior Paint Program

The Senior Citizen's House Painting Project's objective is to improve the aesthetics and image of the housing in the community by assisting senior and disabled residents who meet our qualifying criteria. We will accomplish this by painting the exterior of the qualified owner-occupied participants' homes and also making minor frontage landscape improvements.

To participate in the program you must meet the following criteria: 

  • The Applicant(s) must be 55 of age or older and/or disabled
  • Own and live in your home
  • The Applicant(s) must meet the income requirements listed below:

The program hires students who, under the supervision of adults,  perform the painting service. This experience helps youth participants develop employment skills that will assist them with future employment opportunities.

Housing Rehabilitation Program

Housing Rehabilitation Program

The Coalinga Redevelopment Agency’s Rehabilitation Assistance Program offers affordable financing to assist homeowners in making necessary health and safety repairs to their homes. The program provides a maximum deferred payment loan of up to $90,000 at 0% interest as well as grants for eligible emergency repairs up to $5,500. Examples of repairs include: insulation, roofing, air conditioning, heating, plumbing, electrical and handicap accessibility repair.  Full eligibility requirements are listed in the program brochure.

Individual Development Account (IDA)

The Coalinga Redevelopment Agency, in conjunction with Self-Help Enterprises, is pleased to offer the Individual Development Account (IDA) program which is a special 3:1 matched savings account used to save money for first-time homeownership. For every $1.00 you save, the Coalinga Redevelopment Agency and Self–Help enterprises, through a California Coalition for Rural Housing Assets for Independence (AFI) Grant, will match it with $3.00 with a maximum limit of $3,000 per account, per year.
