ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Claremont Custody Center - City of Coalinga

The City of Coalinga is inviting applications for Assistant Director of Claremont Custody Center. This management position assists the Director in developing and monitoring policy, procedures, rules, and regulations; assigns/supervises staff; manages/resolves employee conflicts and disciplinary actions; assists in budget preparation and manages specific costs; inspects unit facilities/activities; oversees the maintenance of buildings, properties, and equipment; and other critical management functions. We are seeking a strong, mature, leader with excellent interpersonal skills that is able to provide clear and concise direction while cultivating a working environment that emphasizes training and teamwork; encourages excellence and demands personal and professional integrity.

Qualifications: The qualified applicant must have a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in correctional institutions; be able to demonstrate successful history of managing multiple correctional manager areas of responsibility for three of the five years. Have a Bachelors degree from an accredited school with major course work in a related field; additional management/supervisory experience in a correctional institution environment may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years; have a PC832 or the ability to obtain a PC832 within 90 days of hire; and be proficient in the use of personal computers and related software.

Compenstion: Salary range is $58,683.92 - 74,897.20 DOQ with an excellent benefits package that includes:

The Department: The City owns and operates Claremont Custody Center through contracts with California Department of Corrections. It is a minimum level security facility, which currently houses 514 inmates with less than 18 months left on their sentence. The facility has an authorized personnel compliment of a Director, Assistant Director, 4 Lieutenants, 5 Sergeants, 4 Corporals, 55 full-time Correctional Officers, 10 on-call Correctional Officers, and 21 general staff.

The City: Coalinga, an incorporated city in Fresno County, is a full service city operating under the City Council/City Manager form of government. The City provides a wide-range of services to the 12,200 citizens and enjoys a low level of crime through law-abiding involved citizenry. Coalinga has an excellent school system, a medical center, parks and recreation district, and a 2-year community college. The City is also the home of Pleasant Valley State Prison and the Coalinga State Hospital.
