CORRECTIONAL OFFICER III Certified, II or I Provisional and On-Call

The City of Coalinga is seeking applicants to establish an employment list for the position(s) of Correctional Officer III Certified ($2,686.28/mo. - $3,398.99/mo.) and Correctional Officer I & II Provisional ($2,388.11/mo. - $3,021.70/mo.)   We are also hiring On-Call Correctional Officers with the following pay scale - Correctional Officer I ($12.74/hr), Correctional Officer II ($13.25/hr) and Correctional Officer III ($14.33/hr)  Minimum qualifications; 21-years of age and a US Citizen or Legal Resident Alien; possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent or have obtained a two year or four year degree from an accredited college/university; valid CA drivers license without record of suspension or revocation.  Minimum 3-years work experience; education beyond high school and/or military service may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.  No corrections experience necessary.  Successful candidates must pass a background investigation, psychological examination, physical examination, including drug and alcohol testing, and possible polygraph examination.

Correctional Officer III:  Possess a valid PC 832 Powers of Arrest and PC 832 Firearms certificate as specified in Section 832 of the CA Penal Code; and, a certification of completion of the Board of Corrections Basic Correctional Officer training course (CORE Certificate).

Correctional Officer II:  Possess a valid PC 832 Powers of Arrest and PC 832 Firearm certificate as specified in Section 832 of the CA Penal Code; or, possess a certification of completion of the Board of Corrections Basic Correctional Officer training course (CORE Certificate).  All PC 832 and CORE Certification required for continued employment as outlined in the job description.

Correctional Officer I:  No certification required; however, PC 832 Powers of Arrest and PC 832 Firearms Certification as specified in Section 833 must be acquired within 90-days of hire date as outlined in the job description.
