LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE

Claremont Custody Center

The City of Coalinga is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse for Claremont Custody Center. Monthly wage starting at $3,333.54-$4103.59 per month plus generous benefits package. Under the general direction of the Director and/or Assistant Director, and the HUB facility physician, is responsible for the overall operation of the medical unit and performs only those procedures which are necessary to the health and welfare of inmate.

Duties: Must be able to perform medical care pursuant to written protocol and order of the responsible physician; utilizes professional qualifications and/or experience in identifying inmate medical problems and coordinating delivery of appropriate medical services; responsible for daily sick calls and scheduling of appointments; performs health assignments; manage and maintains all inmate medical records; complete and process departmental medical forms and/or required CDC forms; assess documents and process inmate co-pay; instruct staff on procedures and/or administer CPR and first aid when necessary; maintain staff medical records for tuberculosis and Hepatitis B testing; performs other related medical/clerical duties as needed.

Essential Functions: Must be able to perform medical care pursuant to written protocol and order of the responsible physician; order medical prescriptions and refills; dispense inmate medication per doctor's instructions; inventories pharmaceuticals and medical supplies; schedules appointments; transcribes orders; handles medical emergencies; CPR and first aid administration.

Qualifications: High school graduate or GED equivalent; must be twenty-one (21) years of age; three (3) years successful employment in an acute care setting; graduate from an accredited LVN program; possess a current valid CA State Licensure through the Department of Consumer Affairs as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and a current valid I.V. Certification; possess a First Aid Instructor Certificate (40 hour class) and a CPR Instructor Certificate (3 day class) within six (6) months of employment; possess a valid CA Driver License; must have a through knowledge of basic health care practices and able to exercise good judgement in emergency situations; must pass a background investigation, and a physical examination with drug/alcohol screen; a U.S. citizen or a Legal Resident alien; complete a training/orientation program and a twelve (12) month probationary term; be willing to work overtime, shifts, weekends and/or holidays when necessary.
