State Route 33 Pavement Rehabilitation
What is Being Planned?
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to restore the pavement on State Route 33 from Merced Avenue to the Los Gatos Creek South Channel Bridge (post miles 14.7 to 16.7) in the City of Coalinga in Fresno County. In addition, the project would restripe the roadway to install bike lanes, on-street parking, pedestrian refuge, and eight rectangular rapid flashing beacons as Complete Streets elements. The project would also upgrade guardrail and bring facilities to Americans with Disabilities Act standards, build and replace curb ramps, and construct a “road diet” (restriping and road rechannelization) along State Route 33 from 5th Street to Cambridge Avenue.
