Last night, during a regular City Council meeting, the Coalinga City Council adopted a Resolution proclaiming a state of local emergency within the City of Coalinga due to COVID-19.
The purpose of the proclaiming a state of local emergency is to make the City eligible for additional resources, should we need them, and to make the City eligible for state and federal funding should the need arise.
There is no need to panic. There are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 within City limits.
This Resolution was simply a proactive step to ensure the City has all available resources and funding available should we need it.
